I’d say Julia and I are fairly lucky. Eva Marie has been quite manageable over this past week or so. She sleeps a great deal- only waking momentarily to eat and insist on a new diaper.
She’s really even tempered- very little fussiness and crying only when in need of something essential. She has been keeping us up a bit through the night but I imagine no more or less than is typical for someone who is one week and change.
We’ve been relaxing as best we can keeping a steady supply of media- catching up on some television and our Netflix queue. In our latest couch potato mentality, we have found a secret lullaby for Eva Marie in my beloved television series, Star Trek.
I have now developed the irrational fear that my daughter will not enjoy the science fiction genre. Over the course of seven episodes- without fail, she would be sound asleep before Captain Kirk could finish his introductory [Stardate] log.
I’ve made it my five year mission to introduce Eva to the world of Sci-Fi. She may not have an appreciation for it now, but I’m hoping that if nothing else I can instill a bit of nostalgia for all things geek.
